The Approach

A highly individualized therapeutic approach begins with a hands-on assessment to detect and address areas of need. Specialized methods are carefully integrated for a comprehensive result that nurtures & develops the athlete. An osteopathic philosophy pilots each session. Each modality is carefully chosen to trigger the physiological responses that will most benefit your horse. This holistic experience also activates the parasympathetic nervous system which facilitates a state of relaxation crucial for mending.

The Science

Recuperation is an imperative aspect of smart training. Without it, fatigued muscles cannot grow stronger. Comfortable, efficient movement is crucial for healthy muscular development and refined athleticism.

Properly administered modalities assist in preventing injury and expediting recovery. Some are summarized here:

Touch is essential to gauge areas of lack and monitor feedback from the body. Various manual techniques aim to: tone or sedate acupoints; increase range of motion; stretch fascia; release spasms; release nerve compression; improve blood flow, etc.

PEMF helps to increase electrolytes and balance ions in the cell wall. This enhances the cellular metabolism in stiff and depleted muscles, tendons and joints.

Photobiomodulation boosts mitochondrial membrane potential and accelerates ATP production. ATP is the fuel needed for muscle contraction. It also stimulates angiogenesis (development of new blood vessels).

Etiology of Somatic Dysfunction

Work, conformation, and habitual or compensatory postures create stressed muscles.  Atmospheric changes, micro-traumas & allergies can lead to dysfunction.

Purposeful prep & recovery are essential for advanced training and injury prevention.
