The Art

We listen with our hands, collaborate with the horse, and follow vet guidelines to create a highly individualized, synergistic experience. This holistic session triggers the physiological responses most needed by your athlete.

The Science

Comfortable movement is crucial for healthy muscular development & refined athleticism. Properly administered modalities assist in preventing injury and expediting recovery. Sessions vary in length, depending on the horse. This is not a production line, cookie-cutter service.  Bookings are limited so that adequate time can be provided for all sessions.

Some of the methods utilized are outlined here:

Touch is essential to gauge areas of lack and monitor feedback from the body. Various manual techniques aim to: tone or sedate acupoints; increase range of motion; stretch fascia; release spasms; release nerve compression; improve blood flow, etc.

PEMF (pulsing / magnawave) helps to increase electrolytes and balance ions in the cell wall. This enhances the cellular metabolism in stiff and depleted muscles, tendons and joints.

Photobiomodulation (LASER / red light) boosts mitochondrial membrane potential and accelerates ATP production. ATP is the fuel needed for muscle contraction. It also stimulates angiogenesis (development of new blood vessels).

Etiology of Somatic Dysfunction

Diagram: Fryer, G; Fossum, C

Work, conformation, and habitual or compensatory postures create stressed muscles.  Atmospheric changes, micro-traumas & allergies can lead to dysfunction.

Purposeful prep & recovery are essential for advanced training and injury prevention.
